Adventure: Not Hana, THE ROAD to Hana
Details: We were staying in Kihei and decided to do an overnight trip to Hana.  First thing I have to say is I am so happy we decided to stay overnight in Hana instead of doing just a day trip.  It’s a bit more pricey but so worth it!  This would have been very rushed otherwise – and let me tell ya, ya don’t want to be rushing on the road to Hana!  We grabbed our Maui Revealed book again and followed some of the directions to various waterfalls and bamboo forests.  Don’t forget, take your time and enjoy the ride.
Overnighted at: Koali Ranch (wendy@hanaparadise.com) Cute little one bedroom cottage with full kitchen, huge deck and great view.  Fresh banana bread and fruit waiting for us when we arrived.
Stopped at:  The Garden of Eden – had to pay $20 to get in and not worth it.  Seven Sacred Pools, breathtaking and a must see!!!  Hiked up and followed directions in the Maui Revealed book to the ‘Infinity Pool.’  It’s about a half hour hike and so very much worth it.  Continued hiking from there through the Bamboo Forest (magnificent) and up to the largest waterfall I have ever seen.  If you see anything while doing Hana, make sure you see this.  We stopped at so many other waterfalls (quite a few of them you can see right from the road) and they all kind of blend into each other in my memory.  Black Sand Beach was also very cool.  I especially liked the lava formations to the right and the blow hole – wicked pictures from there.  There is also a cave that you can walk down to, to the left of the beach and you can jump off the rocks and into the watery cave below.  Beware, mozzies were pretty aggressive here.
